Eleanor Maloney, 74, is shot and killed in front of her home.

An immigrant from Barbados, she is struck by a stray bullet during an exchange of gunfire between two men at 17 Mattapan Street. Maloney had worked in the operating room at Boston Medical Center for 44 years before her retirement in 2015. She was among those who had provided care for victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings. Anthony Davis, 37, the victim’s grandson, who was wounded in the incident, is subsequently charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
